In this webinar, we will look into the performance of bituminous geomembrane (BGM) under sustain tension with industry experts Prof. Kerry Rowe and Eric Blond. The webinar will dive into the researches carried out by both experts,
Eric Blond will opens the webinar with an introduction to the topic and what drives the research. He will also discuss findings on the BGM seams where the approach focusing on high temperature and projection to lower temperatures.
Kerry Rowe will discuss a series of experiments examining the time performance of BGMs under sustained tension and the practical implications relative to HDPE geomembranes subjected to sustained tension.
Dr. Kerry Rowe
Dr. Kerry Rowe grew up in New South Wales and obtained 2 undergraduate degrees and 2 doctorates from the University of Sydney. He worked for the Federal Department of Construction for 8 years before immigrating to Canada. He is currently Barrington Batchelor Distinguished Prof. at Queen's University in Kingston Canada. He is a past president of the IGS (1990-1994). He has is published extensively in the area of barrier systems including a number of papers dealing with bituminous geomembranes, amongst others, and been a consultant on a 150 different projects dams, tailings storage facilities, lagoons, hazardous, municipal and low-level radioactive waste and high-level radioactive wasted disposal facilities."
Eric Blond
Eric Blond is an independent consultant and registered professional engineer in Quebec & Alberta. He provides technical services to the geosynthetics and building materials industries. He is actively involved in several technical committees and associations. He is Chairman of the ASTM D35.10 Subcommittee on Geomembranes, Chairman of the Canadian Mirror Committee of ISO TC221, IGS Council Member, Chairman of the IGS Technical Committee on Hydraulic, and Secretary of the IGS North American Chapter, among others. Eric Blond is the author of over 100 technical papers, conferences and courses. He is a lecturer at École Polytechnique de Montréal.
